Axioms of the Craftsman

Craftsman Axioms for dealing with resistance, come from Richard Sennett’s work,

The skills of working well with resistance are in sum, those of reconfiguring the problem into other terms, readjusting one’s behavior if the problem lasts longer than expected, and identifying with the problem’s most forgiving element.

Resistances, then, can be found our made. Both cases require imagination. In found difficulties, [as a craftsman] to cope we identify with the obstacle, seeing the problem, as it were, from the problem’s point of view. Made difficulties [such as complicating a work of creation] embody the suspicion that matters might be or should be more complex than they seem; to investigate, we can make them even more difficult.
